We have been active in classic IRI, as long promoted by international development agencies, since 1989 when we moved to Swaziland to work on English in Action. However, before that (from 1984 to 1988) we were interacting with youth twice a week on radio (KidsAmerica) !!! And we naturally built interactivity into our "Tuning in the USA" and "Tuning In to Language and Culture" programs because we know that engagement and active learning are key principals in educational media. We have authored scholarly papers on the subject and we have danced and sung our approach as well. We understand that entertainment and education are important partners in stimulating interest and motivating learning.
